Embarrassing Moments

I must have been tired today. I layed down for a nap just after 1pm. Something woke me up at 2pm, but everyone was still asleep, so I closed my eyes again. Then at 3:20pm it happened. The phone rang. I jumped up from the couch, ran to the phone, picked it up, and then my mind went blank. Usually I answer the phone, "Hello, Kernses!" which one of Aaron's friends always gives me a hard time and says that it should be pronounced "Kerns'" I've talked with James and he agrees that Kernses is just fine. Well if that would've come out it would've been great. Instead I had to search through last names. I can't remember which ones came, but I ended up blurting something like, "Hello, Binghams!" The lady on the other end of the phone says, "Hello?!" so I knew that I said something wrong but couldn't figure it out. It took me a couple of minutes to actually come up with what I did wrong, but I told her sorry and that I'd just woke up. Good thing it was a lady from church who has just moved! Embarrassing? Oh yes, very!

I figure that I must've been dreaming about either Tonya or Tara's families. However, I can't remember a specific dream. I love you Bingham families, but I'm very glad that I'm a Kerns!

Shots

I got to go in to the health clinic yesterday and get a couple of shots. When I was pregnant with Ellen they said that I was Rubella non-immune, and before I get pregnant again (No, I'm not Pregnant), I had better get another shot because if you get Rubella, while pregnant, it could cause a miscarriage or severe birth defects. They say that back in the day they only gave one MMR shot, but people started losing their immunity, so they now give kids one shot and then a booster before they go to school. I brought my immunization card in, and they noticed that I also needed another Tetanus shot because my last one was when I went into Kindergarten, a little more than ten years ago :)

I went into the room and Kelly Zimmer was my nurse. Her dad, Fred Zimmer, used to own the Haines Sell-Rite Store. She said that she and Amy were really good friends, and at one time she could list all of the Kerns boys and put them in order, but not any more. Aaron and I had actually met her a couple of months ago at El Erradero.

Kelly told me that the Tetanus shot wouldn't hurt going in, but later it would, and the MMR would hurt just a little going in but not later. She was right. I hardly felt the Tetanus, but oh my, today it IS sore. I now know why Samuel was limping last year after getting his Tetanus in the leg. I'm glad it's in my left arm and not my leg. The MMR was more like a bee sting, and it's fine today.

I'm trying not to bring much attention to my sore arm because all the kids need to go in for more shots soon. No need to get them worried again.

Blog problem

Why do some of my pictures enlarge when I click on them, and some not? I take them all the same way on my camera, download them at the same time, but some will enlarge and some won't. For example, on my last post only Samuel's picture will enlarge, and the girls don't. Do you know what I am doing wrong and how to fix it? I would like them all to be able to enlarge.

My kids

Samuel went to the eye doctor last week and we found out that he only has to patch his eye for two hours on Sundays!! The doctor has really been impressed with how quickly Samuel's eye started focusing, and how well it is staying at 20/20 (with glasses). He will always have glasses, but he should be all the way done patching his eye by the beginning of September. Way to go Samuel! He's been very faithful and cooperative at getting his eye patched, which is awesome for a 6-year-old!

Jacque has really gotten a love for writing. She doesn't know how to spell words, but she knows how to write all of her letters and loves to write her name. I can't wait for her to go to Kindergarten. I think she will just love it! Although I will miss her greatly during the hours she is gone because she is such a great helper!

Calista had a bladder infection this last weekend, and she is doing much better since we started the right antibiotic. And she does a great job reminding me about taking her medicine. Calista is starting to learn how to ride a bike with training wheels, and has improved greatly this last week. I will post videos when I go to mom's next.

Ellen is growing so much. She's talking more and loves to give hugs. This is a picture from when we went to visit my friends in Haines. We were cooking dinner and Ellen was wanting to play in the puddles, so I finally said ok and took off her shoes and socks and rolled up her pants. Next thing we know, she is laying face down in a puddle (I think she was trying to swim)! By the time I ran in and grabbed my camera, Ellen had stood up. But you can still see how dirty she was! Fun memories!!
