Three for one!

It's your lucky day! You get three different posts in one! Aren't you excited.

The first post: Snot Stew. This is a book that Samuel picked out at the book fair by Bill Wallace. It is a really cute book. When Samuel was looking at books, I wanted him to pick a book that would challenge him. In other words, it needed to have more words on a page than pictures, and be several chapters long. He picked out three books: Snot Stew, Socks by Beverly Cleary, and Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Blume. The reason I'm blogging about this is that he started reading this book on Thursday and was done with it on Tuesday! I was impressed that he finished it so fast. He even lost it for a day and a half in that period too. He just couldn't put it down. He read early in the morning when no one else was awake, during quiet time and any other time he had. It was fun to see him enjoying it so much.

Second post: Here is the long awaited picture of Samuel and the tie that I adjusted to fit him. For those of you who may have missed the earlier post, here's a little explanation. It used to be Aaron's tie, but since it had a huge stain on the bottom of the tie, I cut off the stained portion and made it to fit Samuel. I think it turned out pretty nice.

The third post: My mother's day gifts from Samuel and Jacque. These are the gifts that they brought home from school. Jacque made a pretty picture of a pot with white and red flowers (tissue paper) which reads Happy Mother's Day! She did a great job on it and was very excited to give it to me. Samuel made me the bracelet. He was afraid that it wouldn't fit, but it is perfect. I wear it most days and I think he's pretty pleased to see it on my wrist.

Ellen is so cute!

This is a picture of our little Ellen with her GREAT-Aunt Ellen, James’ sister. Mom took this last weekend at Tara’s triathlon in Baker. It's the first time we've been able to get a picture of Ellen and her namesake!

It is summertime in Pendleton! At 4:00pm today it was 82 degrees. After walking around the house for an hour, I was hot, so I went and changed into shorts and took my socks off. It felt so good to walk on the cool wood floors.

A little bit later, Ellen came walking into the kitchen with a purpose. I don’t know if she was hungry and came to tell me she wanted a snack, or if she was going to complain that the girls weren’t letting her play “Guess Who” with them. Whatever the reason was, I don’t think I will ever find out because as soon as she saw me, she stopped. I looked down at her, and she kept staring at me, going from my shorts to my bare feet, back and forth, back and forth, without saying a word. Finally she looks at me with her “serious look” and says, “GO CHANGE!” I guess she hasn’t seen mommy in shorts before and thought I was indecent. I laughed and told her I didn’t need to change, and asked if she wanted to get shorts on too. She didn’t have to think long about that and we went and got her some shorts to wear. Then she was pleased that we both had shorts on.


Totally new topic - we had our house inspection done today and it went really well. They found a few minor repairs like fixing leaky faucets and showerheads, but nothing major. Now we are waiting for the appraisal.

We found a house!

We finally found a house!! We just got our offer accepted and signed today! The house is in Pilot Rock, its a three bed/two bath home, about 1989 square feet, all one level, two car garage on 0.64 acre. It has a living room and a family room which are both big rooms and good possibilities for adding on in the future if needed. We are very excited about this home. It is right across from the church in Pilot Rock so the kids have a great place for riding their bikes and scooters. The street it is on is a dead end street so there's not a lot of traffic. It looks like the neighborhood was a quiet one, which will soon change with our moving in! We are hoping to close the first week in June to keep our 5% interest rate. The address is 416 SE 4th St Pilot Rock, Oregon 97868. We will have rent paid here until June 20th, so that gives us time to clean the place up and move in.

I don't have any pictures right now. Mom and dad took some of the outside when they came to look through the house with me, but the people were getting ready for an estate sale so the house was full of their stuff = no pictures of the inside. I will try and get pictures from mom soon.
